How do I record a dose?
On the Journal, each dose is a line with a ring at the end. Tap the ring and the dose is recorded at that moment, with the time written on the line. An Undo appears for a few seconds. To give a dose at a different time, add a note, or record half a tablet, tap the line itself instead of the ring.
How do I skip a dose, or undo one?
Swipe a line to the left. A pending dose offers Skip; a recorded one offers Undo. Long-pressing a line shows the same choices plus "Give at another time". A skipped dose is written down as a decision, not a miss, and it never shifts the rest of the day.
I gave a dose two days ago and forgot to record it.
Open the Calendar, tap that day, then open the Journal — it is showing that day. Every missed dose there has a ring; tap it and the dose is recorded at the time it was due. Tap the line instead if you remember the exact time. Correcting an earlier day never changes today's schedule.
What does "skip the missed dose" versus "time from the last dose" mean?
It is set per medication, under If a dose is late. Skip the missed dose is for medications you must not double up: a dose still not given when the next one comes due is written off, and the next one happens when the prescription says. Time from the last dose is for "every six hours" schedules: give the 8 AM dose at 10 and the rest of the day moves with it; give it early and the rest moves earlier. The default is to skip.
Can a medication be given only on certain days?
Yes. Under the schedule, Repeats offers every day, every week, every two weeks, or every month. Weekly picks the days; monthly picks a date, and a date past a short month's end falls on its last day. On the other days the medication simply does not appear.
What are "as needed" medications?
Medications with no schedule — the occasional painkiller. They sit under As needed on the Journal with a plus to record a dose. If you set a minimum gap or a daily limit, MedList warns when you record one too soon, but it never refuses to record what you actually gave.
How do reminders work?
Each round of doses due at the same time is one alert, sent at the scheduled time and repeated a couple of times if nothing is recorded. The alert offers Taken, Snooze and Skip, from the lock screen or an Apple Watch, and acting on it records the dose without opening the app. How often alerts repeat is set once, in Settings. If you allowed notifications when asked, that is all there is to it; if you declined, Settings › Notifications › MedList turns them back on.
What do the calendar colours mean?
Green: every scheduled dose that day was given or deliberately skipped. Amber: some were given. Red: none were. Blank: nothing was scheduled. Tapping a day shows its bars beneath the month and turns the Journal to it.
Can I stop a medication without losing its history?
Yes — that is what the Active switch and the Ends date are for. Turn a medication off, or give it an end date, and nothing more is scheduled while every dose already recorded stays in the Journal, on the calendar and in exports. Delete is different: it removes the medication and every dose ever recorded for it, and asks you to confirm.
Is my log backed up?
MedList keeps everything on your phone, and that data is part of your phone's own backup — iCloud Backup or a backup to your computer. Restore the phone and the log comes with it. There is no MedList account and nothing is sent to us.
How do I get the log to a doctor?
On the Calendar, tap the share button and choose a range. The log exports as plain text in the same format you would keep by hand, as a spreadsheet, or as a PDF.
What does Pro add?
MedList is free for one person, with unlimited medications, reminders and history. Pro is a one-time $4.99 purchase that adds more profiles, for caring for more than one person. There is no subscription, and it is shared through Family Sharing.
How do I restore Pro on a new phone?
Settings › Restore purchases. As long as you are signed in with the same Apple Account, or in the same Family Sharing group, Pro comes back at no charge.
Does MedList give medical advice?
No. MedList records what you decide to give. It does not calculate doses, suggest changes, or check interactions. Always follow the prescription and your clinician.
